Default 36 or 70?

I'm riding out west from Ohio in a few days. Really no plans, just ride. I'd like to get to Denver and then decide where to next. I was thinking off hopping on 36 in Indianapolis and taking that across Missouri, through Kansas and into Denver. Anyone in the area shed some light on which would be better? 70 would be faster I know. Time isn't a huge concern, a more enjoyable ride is.
Thanks!

Once you make it there, a ride to Pikes Peak is nice if you can handle the altitude.
