Congrats on becoming a local. If the weather holds out (it may not beginning this weekend), I would head up one or more of the canyons on the east side of the Salt Lake valley. Big and Little Cottonwood canyons are great rides. Parley's Canyon heading east to Park City is the I-80 thoroughfare, and it's twisty at freeway speeds. Kind of fun if traffic is behaving.

You could head west on I-80 to exit 99 Tooele/Stansbury, then south down SR-36 highway, through Stockton and Rush Valley, then US-73 east through Fairfield and Cedar Fort, and back to the Salt Lake valley. That would give you a small introduction via Rush Valley to some of the beauty of the Utah Desert.

If you want to go a little farther west on I-80 to exit 77 Dugway, then south on SR-196 to Dugway, then east over the pass to Rush Valley, and back east towards the Salt Lake valley. That's generally called the Skull Valley loop, and it's a beautiful desert ride. About 100 mile loop from my house in the Tooele valley, probably 150-160 from South Jordan.

EDIT: East Canyon is another cool ride, the entrance of which is just a couple/few miles east up Parley's Canyon, then exit at the golf course. Haul *** past the golf course, which will lead you up East Canyon. Twisty, several great views, and eventually exits out with a choice to head back to Salt Lake valley on I-80 or I-84 down Ogden Canyon, then south to Salt Lake area. I ride this after work a few times in the summer, just to get a nice ride in before heading home.

I live in the Cedar City area. We have some decent riding down here when it isn't snowing.
