Default No mil space A rooms during Sturgis

Looks like I won't be doing Sturgis next summer.

I am retired military and have been getting space available room at either the Army Guard base in Rapid or the Med Center out at Ft Mead for the past 9 years during the Rally. Knowing the 75th will be a mad house, I shot them an email inquiring about space A room for 2015. Told them I'd take anything with a bed and a roof.

The response I got was "The word from upper command is that we will not be making rooms available during the 2015 rally....."

This would have been my 10 year Sturgis anniversary and was really looking forward to celebrating it on my 2015 Ultra.

So much for military retirement benefits.

I have a social event next month that "upper command" will be attending. I'm sure I'll be bringing the subject up to them...........LOL

I have done that, Bear Butte Camp Ground. I'm a little older now and appreciate my creature comforts, especially when it rains.......and it ALWAYS rains. Glad I wasn't camping this year, but I can do it if I have to.

Friends of mine have camped and used the temp quarters down at Ellsworth AFB in Rapid City with no problems at all. Don't know about next year though

When that storm hit this year, that just meant more sex in the tent.

I stopped at Offutt AFB in Omaha, NE on my way back to NC from 2013 Rally. The BOQ there is three floors and massive with about 5 cars in the lot. I walked in and the nasty ****** behind the counter said "no vacancies". After two weeks on the road and a hangover from hell I wasn't about to get into it with this troll. I don't think she liked Marines that's all I can guess

Are the hotel rooms or other places to stay so expensive that if a person can't find a place to stay for free that they can't go? How expensive are they?

If you limit yourself to hotel rooms (and especially if you wait until the last minute . . . which means now), yes. They're hundreds and hundreds of dollars per night. If you camp, it's not bad at all.
