The vendors were set up the week before. They were not necessarily "open". Most of the bars are open, but empty. Nothing really going on. Kinda cool to see the place before the storm. Still zillions of slow tourists at all the major destinations like Badlands and Rushmore.

 

Only (5) days till we leave. I have tweaked the trip a little since my first post. We changed our motel in rapid city to the Hampton inn in Spearfish. Also, I figured out a cool way around Chicago. We are taking the high speed ferry out of Muskegon MI to Milwaukee. It cuts 100 miles off the trip one way and I know for sure I won't get killed riding thru Chicago. I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a trip. I have been trailering to Daytona bikeweek the last few years but it just is not the same as riding. Planning is complete, tomorrow i'm going to clean up the bike and start packing and going thru my pre ride checklist. My daughter is still going and she is equally excited. The new ultra low now has exactly 1200 miles on the odometer. First service is complete and all the updates and recalls are complete as well. I am probably going to have to take a sleeping pill every night this week to get some rest.

 

Made our tentative reservations for 2016 mid week before the rally. I'll confirm in January. Have fun at Sturgis!
