Default The Long Road to Smokeout 17!

More info if you head to their website.

Long Road is a Gypsy ride to the Smoke Out 17. Mike Allen checked in and wrote up an itinerary of this years adventure. The following are all the details:

You’ve heard the stories, read about it in The Horse, and dreamed about doing it … Well here’s your chance to make your dream a reality!

The Long Road, as always, is a 1000+ mile, multi day ride full of adventure and camaraderie as we make our way to the coolest chopper event on earth:

THE SMOKE OUT!

Camping, motel, registration fee, sign in & other info is below the ride description.

This year’s journey starts Sunday June 12th when we meet at Little Wolf Beach and Campground in Tupper Lake in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains of northern New York State and a night around the campfire.

Monday morning, we saddle up and head east into Vermont’s Green Mountains, then south to North Adams, Massachusetts for our first nights’ stay at Historic Valley Campground after a scenic filled 250 mile day.

Tuesday, we head south into Connecticut where we then cut west, heading through New York, New Jersey and finally ending up near Tremont, Pennsylvania in Echo Valley Campground after an exhilarating 320 mile ride for the 2nd night of revelry around the campfire.

Wednesday, we travel in a south westerly direction through Pennsylvania & Maryland, eventually landing near Bowden in northern West Virginia for the 3rd night, riding a challenging 285 mile day through the twisties of the Appalachians. We will be staying at Revelle’s campground with its’ own bar, restaurant and patio.

Thursday, it’s a leisurely 250 mile ride south where we venture to Virginia’s Meadows Of Dan and the biker oriented Willville Biker Camp.

Completing the ride Friday, it’s a short 150 mile ride due south to The Smoke Out where we will celebrate our journey and the party begins.

As always, a comprehensive list of bike shops along with the map of the optional route is provided to give riders comfort, knowing they don’t have to search out a place for repairs, even if they parallel the optional route.

First time riders will receive the coveted Long Road medallion after completing all the stops when we arrive at the Smoke Out!Again, we’ll have the “Rider’s Choice Coolest Bike” award to be voted on by the riders on this year’s ride to encourage everyone to bring out their vintage iron and choppers.

Campgrounds are set up to receive the majority of riders who want to camp (most also have a few cabins) while the closest motels are listed below for those who want to enjoy the ride, but would prefer the comfort of a motel room. It is advised that those who want a cabin or motel room book these in advance! Prices quoted are based on what they were during planning and are subject to change! All riders are responsible to pay for their own camping or motels and meals unless noted.

Sign ins: Initial sign in will occur at Little Wolf Campground. An instruction sheet will be handed out at the start of the ride as to where other sign ins will occur as well as other activities & attractions along the way that are being worked out as of this posting.

Registration Fees:
Register by May 1st (post mark date) and receive a free commemorative ride t-shirt! A limited number of t-shirts will be available for $15 for those who sign up after May 1st.

For past riders who have ridden the ride before and received their medallions, the fee is $30.
1st time riders pay a fee of $50 (the extra $20 going towards the medallion).
*If you know you are camping at Willville Biker Camp in Virginia on Thursday night, add an extra $10 per person to your payment to cover camping. This will save you $5 vs. paying $15 at the gate. Please make note you are camping there when sending your info with your payment.

Send a cheque or money order in US funds (make sure it is cashable in Canada!) and payable to:
Brian “Uncle Ben” Sauer
180 Marksam Rd Unit #65
Guelph, Ontario, Canada
N1H 8G4

Please include the name, address, best phone number to contact, e-mail address and t-shirt size (as well as tee or spaghetti for women), whether you’ve completed The Long Road before, and whether you wish to camp (or cabin) or get a motel during the trip (helps for campground #s).
Accommodations: It is recommended, if camping, to reserve ahead of time as the campgrounds are only saving a certain number of spots for us!
