The Hollister Rally has been trying to re-establish itself since it had been cancelled a few years ago. I guess the low-key style is because of that. No one wants to blow it for the next year maybe.
It's just a mini version of any other rally you have been to. Plenty of bikes, cops, vendors, bands, overpriced hotels, etc... We stayed just outside of town at a historic hotel next to two little old bars. Yes, it was tame by some standards but it was good for an overnighter. We met some good people and had a good time.
Just don't expect "Sturgis" and you won't be disappointed.
