My advice and YMMV, get out and ride! I have met a lot of folks out and about and ride with a few like minded folks often. If you enjoy a beer or two while out stop the local bike bars.

HOG chapters are a good way to meet folks but sometime you get a lot of inexperienced riders so advice to hang back is not bad. I actually try to hang back whenever riding with new folks for a ride or two till I get comfortable.
