FNG on a bike
Old time rider, nearly 50 years on two wheels. Two years ago, I went back to school and became a motorcycle technician. Work service at a franchise and loving it. I recently purchased my first Harley, a Dyna Wide Glide from 2000 in pearl ice. It's very clean, well maintained and about to undergo transformation this winter. When bought, it had 14" apes that don't play well with my old rotator cuffs. I'll be replacing with 6" rise buffalo t-bars (1 1/2" diameter) shortly. Bars are sitting on my work shelf, new chrome switch housings and perches joined them on Tuesday. The apes are already spoken for.
The motor is about to be torn down and converted to a 103" with hydraulic tensioners and some performance parts internally. The 88 pulls ok, but I'm fresh off a 145hp sport bike. Yeah, moar power needed!
Oh, yeah, retired AF aircraft mechanic about 20 years now. I've got grease and fuel in my blood.

Welcome from East Tennessee!
When I was in the USAF, back in '73 or '74 ( Old age, cant remember exact year) I was stationed at a remote ADC site ( Early warning Radar) called "Port Austin" AFS in Northern Michigan! ( Tip of the thumb?) I loved the Summer!! Awesome! it was near a little town called "Bad Axe" of course it was Port Austin, closest larger city was "Bay City" ....best I remember! Anyway, it was interesting and I had a friend named "Chet" he was originally from Kentucky best I recall, who was a former Air Force member who was then a "GS" Tech on the base, he had married a local gal while he was on active duty at the site and then stayed in the area and actually worked on the site after he got out, he had an old bright yellow Panhead, never forget it!!( I have wanted to look him up and see if he's still around for many years, just havnt done it.) Great memories,At least the times I can remember , when I wasnt in the "NCO Club"!!
On that Isolated site, it used to open at 10am, best I remember!! Oh, those were the days! LOL!
Regards
Ed

We just got nailed yesterday with 15" of snow. Salt spread, season's over.
