Even if I do Cam swap? Or if I do a 110 kit?
I'll most likely order the FP3 tomorrow... It sounds like it will do what I need for now...
Hell, if I've got the $$ to do cams or a 110 kit later, then I'll have the $$ for a new tuner.
V H will probably have improved their tuner by then. I'll be getting the "HydroPack FP17" by then!
The thing with Technology and computers is that Something bigger and better will be out tomorrow...and the stuff you bought yesterday is out of date and old news.
I just want to ride...
Will it hurt to put the pipes on without the tuner, until the FP3 gets here? 100 miles? 300 miles? The pipes are Black....

You can get the FP3 from Amazon for $327 and free shipping.

Yes, I just changed cams in my BO this week, I just edited my current map, changing from stock to the Andrews 37H cam (one of 40 or 50 choices) took less then a minute. I'll run an Autotune session just to fine tune, but it runs great now so I might not even notice a difference. The FP3 is always improving and updating with new features, cam replacement and decel pop reduction are two of the latest. I check the app often just to see if a new feature has popped up!!
You can install pipes now, but need the tuner when you install high flow A/C..

Thundermax will do pretty much anything you can throw at it. Even the S&S Cycle 143".

When you upgrade to cams and headwork, you will want a professional dyno tune. Name one tuner who can tune using the FP3. I doubt there are that many.

Wouldn't that only apply if the motorcycle using their maps be at the same altitude and weather conditions? If the map was made at sea level and the end user is in the Rocky Mountains, that would mean that the map will be compromised.

Possibly, but the Autotune feature will fine tune the maps in those situations.. I have a cabin at 7000 feet and when there it works great, bikes runs awesome, I flash a map I made during an Autotune session at that altitude. The FP3 will hold up to six maps at a time including custom maps you've edited. Now after reading the next post, I guess I don't need to bother, V&H explains..

Where the bike was mapped does not matter. This is because we are tuning the VE tables which is the foundation the ECM uses to make its calculations. The bike uses a MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor and IAT (Intake Air Temperature) Sensor. It measures the manifold pressure behind the throttle blade and temperature to make what is called a "Speed Density" calculation. This is then used as a multiplier against the VE values (as well as many others) to make the final pulse width calculation to make it run it's best at any elevation and temperature.

Thus, whether your in San Diego or Denver, the bike is making the adjustments automatically, (it does this in stock form). That's why a "flashed based" tuner does not matter on the elevation it is operated in.
