New member and Shovelhead owner
Hi all, my name is Stan and I am a new member here, and mostly new to Harley's, at least as an owner. I grew up in Maine on a small island and my dad has always been a biker. When I was old enough I would go with him to bike shows around the state, Winterport Drag Races were always a favorite. While I grew up around HD's, I took a different approach and fell in love with sport bikes as a teen and had a few over the years, starting with a mid 90's Ninja EX500 and then upgrading to an '05 Suzuki GSXR750 in college. The last bike I owned was an '03 CBR 600RR. All very fun to ride, but as I age and the years of playing basketball on a concrete gym floor take it's toll I find that if I want to stay on two wheels I need something more comfortable for my back and knees.
My father recently handed down his bike, what I believe to be an '81 FXS. It has been sitting for a few years and I'm excited to get it back on the road. I'm really new to learning about the Harleys but I enjoy doing my own work and will take my time to learn how to address things as needed. I'm sure there will be many questions along the road, and I look forward to sharing my progress and making some new friends while learning the ins and outs of the Shovelhead. Here are a few pics of how the bike came to me.
