New Member from Southern IL, future Breakout owner.
Hello all, new member here. 23 years young from Southern Illinois. Been riding dirt bikes since I was a kid and been on the street since I was 18. First bike was a 81' Kawasaki KZ440LTD, rode on that for just over a year till I got in a slow speed t-bone accident (cagers fault) at a 4-way stop.
Bike started going downhill after that and I ran across a beautiful custom blue 96' Kawasaki Vulcan 800A with some V&H Straight Shots with 45xxx miles but looked and ran like it was brand new. Snatched it up and have been enjoying my wanna-be Harley ever since with very little issues along the way.
Well now that I am about to have my car paid off I have decided on purchasing a Harley Breakout. Hoping to make a purchase some time late April-early June. Currently looking at my options and making a list of things to look out for and upgrades to either already have on a bike when purchased or do myself.
I'm very mechanically inclined and have no issues with doing pretty much any DIY work myself. I've got a 86' Trans Am that I've basically built from the ground up. Built 406' SBC with EFI(tuning done by me)/TKO 600 5-speed/(you get the picture). Plus I have some fab experience from my first vehicle, a 85' GMC K10 Jimmy. I spent a winter cutting out and redoing the floors in it. Opted out of using cheap/thin reproduction floors and built my own. All of that to say, if it can be done by me I will learn to do it. Minus stuff like machine engine work, I don't have the expensive tooling for that.
So back to the Breakout, some things I am looking for in the bike whether I purchase it like this or I save on purchase price and quickly upgrade to are:
non-cvo due to affordability, prefer below 10k miles, aftermarket pipes are a plus with black big radius's being my favorite and short shots being next in line, upgraded AC, tuner(FP3 or Power Vision), upgraded to CVO wheels would be a great plus. Still undecided on color. Red is my personal favorite general color. But I painted my Trans Am red, would be excessive to have a red motorcycle to right....right?!? I really like the Big Blue Pearl bikes I've seen. Another color I'm slowly beginning to really like is Amber Whiskey. Seems to be more uncommon too. Then of course black is always on the list. But my DD vehicle is black...ugh I hate decision making.
Future upgrades include but are certainly not limited to: Air Suspension, pulley changes to improve final drive ratio, front suspension upgrades, getting rid of factory tires, Blackline console, this list could go forever so lets leave it at that for now...
So yeah, there is my intro. I have a tendency to type way to much so sorry in advance. I'm finding there are tons of beautiful and well built Breakouts on here to help me create a vision for my own. I'm sure it will be a somewhat slow process for me due to budget but its a bike I plan to own for years to come so no worries.

Welcome to the Forums from Central IL. Have been through Marion many times, has been a couple years though. My parent have friends from the Creal Springs area.

Marion just keeps getting bigger and bigger every year. Its probably changed quite a bit since your last time through. I actually just moved back into Marion from Creal Springs. Small world!
