 \\; \\; \\; \\;was thinking of starting small first with a Sportster or Vulcan 500, but some friends told me I would get tired of it and want a bigger bike later.

Any information will be helpful..as well as maintenance on these bikes...pros and cons

Thanks

RE: To buy or not to buy
Find a dealer that will let you try out \\;varying scoots. They all ride a little bit different. Personally, I have the Dyna Lowrider and love it.

RE: To buy or not to buy
Welcome from South Texas! HD is starting a new class at some dealers. It's something like "Know What You're Getting Into" or something like that. It's a class that's supposed to educate new riders about the different HD options. Call your nearest dealer and ask. There was a sign at my local when I was there yesterday, but I don't remember exactly what it was called. Good luck with your new HARLEY!

RE: To buy or not to buy
As you've never ridden any bike before my personal advice would be to consider something considerably smaller than any of the Harley range to learn the basics on.
 \\;
Doing the MSF course first, before you buy any bike, is a very good start. They will teach you the correct way to do things before you've had an opportunity to develop bad habits on your own.
 \\;
Personally, I would be suggesting you look at something like a Honda Rebel after the MSF course. It would be \\;considerably lighter and with less power while you go through the learning curve.
 \\;
Whichever route you take, have fun and stay safe.
