I've finally decided to take the plunge into my first motorcycle and have set my sights on a new Road King Classic.&nbsp\\; I've got my financing completed and the big challenge is whether I should buy and '08 or place my order for an '09 model.&nbsp\\; Local dealers are offering&nbsp\\;incentives on the '08s ranging from $1000 off to no freight, prep + $500 gift card ($1500 total).&nbsp\\; I'm not sure if $1500 is enough incentive to buy "last year's" model given the improvements for '09 that I've read about (not to mention the depreciation that I'll see on the '08).&nbsp\\; I&nbsp\\;just think that incentives should be bigger on the '08s.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;I'd appreciate any thoughts.&nbsp\\; &nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\;

Definitely shop around...I was at a dealership today that was doing $2500 off any remaining '08 on the floor. Welcome from Illinois!

$2500?&nbsp\\; Wow.&nbsp\\; That probably makes it worth the trouble of buying out of state.&nbsp\\; I'm sold on a RKC in Pacific Blue or Pac. Blue/Black.&nbsp\\; I see that '09 has a similar color and I don't mind waiting.&nbsp\\; The dealers in SoCal just don't seem motivated to move the bikes, but I suspect they need to sell more than I need to buy.&nbsp\\; Tommorow, I'm going to expand my search into adjacent states.&nbsp\\;

I am also shopping for a new Harley, Road King Classic. Yes, I know dealers in my area who are discounting there remaining inventory of the 2008 models.

It has a lot to do with logistics when it comes to how much they are discounting their inventory.
My main concern would be how well they treat me (attitude) and customer service on the showroom floor as well as in the maintenance department. Do they have competent and professional employees who are going to be performing mantenance on your prize procession.

The more I reflect on this purchase, the more it makes sense to order an '09.&nbsp\\; Although my current incentive, $1500, which comes in the form of no set-up and freight charges + a $500 accessory coupon.&nbsp\\; It's just not enough to sway me to buy an '08.&nbsp\\; I have a hold&nbsp\\;on the exact color/option mix&nbsp\\;'08 that I want\\; however, I plan to withdraw it tomorrow (unless, of course, they can increase the discount).
