New Member - 1980 FLT ReBuild
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Matt, I'm from Michigan and I just got my first HD. My uncle gave me his 1980 FLT to fix up and get back on the road, I'm sure I will have some questions along the way so I hope I have come to the right place.
I just graduated with an ME degree from MSU and have some good experience there with the formula racing team there (Honda F4i engine). I have a month off before I start work which will give me some good time to work on my new FLT. It ran when it was parked and covered in a garage about 5 or so years ago. The front brake master cylinder had a major leak and was caked with dried brake fluid. The rear brake appears to be leaking as well. The wires pulled out of the connector for the LR blinker and the blinker assembly is not attached in the front (no front fairing). Those are the major issues, other than that the bike just needs alot of love.
I have a 1981 Honda Rebel that I putz around on every now and then but other than that I am fairly new to riding and especially unfamiliar with HD as well but I'm am working on changing that!

HD has never released their service manuals in PDF format. We don't allow discussion of that on HD Forums. That was rule 18 of the HD Forums rules you were required to read when you joined. Those rules can be found in this section. You may want to read them again.
