New member hello from the East Bay
Hi there. I've just now joined HDForums, after 31 years riding HDs. Started with an ironhead Sportster in 1982, in an old D&D Cycles rigid frame, and was riding a '48 Panhead before too long. Spent most of the 80s and 90s on that Panhead and in that time, built and sold two generator Shovelheads, one a '66 and one a '69, both in swing-arm frames. I've spent the last 10 years living in Humboldt County, with the area surrounding the Redwood Run as my back yard. Before that, I was living up by Yosemite Nat'l Park, in the Oakhurst/Bass Lake area. Moving back to East Bay traffic has been a bit of a shock, but I learned how to ride in the Bay Area, just far fewer cars on the road back in the early 80s on the Peninsula.
Current bike is an '08 Road King (105th Anniv. trim) that I've had since she was new, but I've swapped out the leather bags for locking hard bags from an Ultra in the same paint scheme. She's got 16" apes, pulled back for comfortable posture, SE255 cams and a V&H Propipe. Blew out my lumbar spine hitting a pothole at about 80mph on the rigid Panhead, herniating 4 discs and breaking two vertebrae, which led to me not riding for 5 years from 2002 to 2007.
I'm a professional tattooer, with a BA (double) in Studio Art/Art History, and an Anthropology minor from Humboldt State. I've tattooed in 5 different countries, traveling for tattoo conventions around the world before there were things like faux-reality TV shows about tattooing. My facebook page is listed in my profile, and if you're curious, there's two large portfolios of my work attached to that profile.
I'm happily married to my best friend, Gaia, who is also the absolute best passenger I've ever had in 31 years of riding.
I look forward to some interesting conversations here.
