Default Air in the cooling system

Just picked up a newer 2014 limited and just got it on the road and took it for a ride and the engine light comes on and shortly after the temperature light comes on as well. So I called the dealer and they said it could be that there is a air pocket in the cooling system. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get the air out of the cooling system. The wife is screamin at me cause we can't ride on this gorgeous fall day.

Shame on your dealer for not properly preping your new bike. I would have them pickup your bike. Ask for a loaner while they repair and ask for something extra for your bike, for your troubles. Their is no excuse for this to happen. The dealers have known that the cooling system will fail with air in the system for some time. Those of us that purchased twin cooled bikes last September worked through the issues, now they are supposed to be dialed in.

Best of luck. They are great bikes when properly setup.

I've come to the conclusion that the coolant pump is not running and the fans don't come on as they should. I opened up the throttle to 50% or better and the engine light went out but no fans came on. The radiators and the flow pipes are cool. I did notice that the coolant in the bottle is above the line as appose to when it was cool. So I'm not sure what to do next other then check all the wiring. I guessing its going to have to go back for servicing under warranty.

A cool 62 degree day and windy I took the wife for a ride anyway. Peace under this roof for now. LOL

I can say that the bike rides and handles much better then the 2005 Electra Glide Classic I had. Much smoother and better handling I'm impressed.

I also agree with the comment above that the bike should have been checked more thoroughly before being released.

I fully agree with Scott. Purging the coolant system is one thing that must be done with these new bikes. I would certainly be contacting the selling dealer and expressing my discontent if I were you!
