It is literally a 5 minute job, I remove the console, pull the vent hose and unplug the harness and lay it back on a towel on the rear fender, unplug the quick disconnect fuel line, 2 bolts front, 2 bolts rear... and have a towel or blanket ready on the bench to set it on.
And exactly how does this get the gas tank off the frame?

+1 these tanks 09-15 very simple to remove. Less gas is always better as it makes it lighter but as he stated above just make sure you have a blanket to set it on and when I do my tanks I always prop up the rear on a block of wood because if you don't the fuel petcock will sit on the table and all the pressure will be on the petcock I would rather not damage this as it is a PITA to replace had to do one before on an older bike. Good luck mine is coming off this week too so I can run wires. Then pop off the plastic back bone cover and install your wiring inside then reverse procedure

I had a near empty tank on my RK. Took off front bolts, rear nuts, raised it up, she tilted it towards her, held it on her knee, ran the wires into the plastic trough for my heated grips total of 30 seconds, then helped her set it back down. Nice to have an ol lady to help once in a while.
