Default Seat Question

For the past 6 years, I've been riding a 2009 FXDC with a Sundowner seat and have been very happy with it. I'm trading it in on a 2015 Limited and have only sat on it in the showroom and thought it was pretty comfortable as well...so I thought I would ask some of you who have had experience actually riding the FLHTK. What is the difference between the seat that comes on it vs. either a hammock or Sundowner? The Hammock is $549 with good reviews on Harley's website and the Sundowner is $349 with not so good reviews (for some reason). Just trying to justify the cost. Thanks in advance

I own a TK, went to my dealer and tested the Hammock. My wife and I really liked it so I just bought one with heat. Buy from one of the online discounters and you will save quite a bit.

Before you buy use your dealers seat demo program. Test the seat for a full day.

What I like about the Hammock is the suspension system. It really works.

Congratulations on your new Limited. You will love the bike.

I hate the stock seat, way too soft and I am always adjusting to get my tailbone farther back and my back straighter rather than the slumping position the stock seat puts me in. I got a Corbin and I never adjust my position and I never think about the seat except occasionally thinking , WOW I have ridden an entire tank and never thought about my butt.

A firm seat gives me more weight transfer feel for cornering too.

The way you like to sit is important to choosing a seat, If you slump back and put your feet up on highway pegs you probably won't want a firm seat, if you sit up tall and like to use your *** to turn the bike you will likely hate a soft seat.

In my opinion the stock touring seat and the other Harley catologue seats for touring are butt ugly too.

I'm 6' 2" with a 34" inseam. The stock seat made me feel like I was sitting on the tank.....and my nuts. I wasn't able to get comfortable, even after a gel insert. Bought a Mustang Summit and it made a world of difference. This is my first Mustang. Had a Sundowner on my RK, which made me a little squirmy. Best of luck.

I put a take off seat from a limited on my Road King when riding 2 up. My wife likes the stock Limited seat ,i have no complaints with it , but I like the Danny Gray speed cradle when its just me.

The stock seat on my FLHTK kept shoving me forward. I hated it.

Borrowed the dealer's demo Sundowner and Tall-Boy, but they didn't have enough padding for me to do an all day ride on them.

Went with the Hammock and it's been great for the big rides. It feels like I sit about an inch taller than stock which I like. It made my legs feel less cramped behind the lower fairing, and a little extra padding is fine with me.

+1 on using the demo seats. It saved me from having to do several returns. The only down side is most dealers only demo Harley brand seats.
