When I push and hold the PTT button to transmit, I don't get a steady transmission. The VOX (Like as in the way the intercom works) has to open the transmission carrier. If I key the mic (Press and hold PTT), there is no transmission until I start talking, and if I pause, it drops out (Cutting off some of my transmission).

Anybody else have a similar issue...Or fix?

 

Maybe your intercom is on too and that's where your side tone (voice feedback) is coming from once you break VOX. I've read on here that the CB side tone is inop on their bikes and that the intercom has to be on to get it. Mine seems to work although not very loud, it is there. I've also heard that cycling the power on the CB will restore it.

 

By side tone, you mean feedback? Hearing yourself?

Which is a great idea, but the signal shouldn't drop out just because I paused while speaking. I'll have to try with the intercom off and see what happens.

 

Right. Side tone is the term for the feedback to hear yourself talking/transimitting. The CB signal wouldn't be falling off when you stop talking as long as the PTT is still pressed, but the intercom will stop giving the side tone depending on where the VOX is set. I don't know if that's what's happening with the OP, but theoretically it can be.
