Default Slots in 14 Street Glide seat?

As you guys know, there are two slots in the stock seat. You basically sit on the forward one and the other is between the rider and passenger portion. It appears as though the 'rear' one is for a rider backrest....what is the forward slot for??

I'm guessing if you get caught in the rain the water will drain and not drown you're private parts. Then again there could be a " hole " different reason.

Maybe water drainage? That's what I'm going with, but it could be that it is the easiest way to tighten the cover on the seat, I don't know, they both sound like really good answers.

Now I will ask the question, if either of the answers I gave is wrong or right, what will this information accomplish?

I know that people will say that there is no such thing as a dumb question, but don't believe everything you hear, see, I also ask one.

The only reason I ask is that I'm looking into having the stock seat converted to a solo and was just wondering what exactly that front slot was for.....

Put a piece of tape over the front slot and go for a ride in hard rain and the secret of the slot will be reviled to you
