1000 Mile Service Done
Took my SGS in today to get my 1000 service done which only cost me 1 dollar & this is with the synthetic fluids. There was no way I was going to pay $400 for the service so when the next one is do I will do it myself. They also took care of an issue with the muffler brackets & clamps which was covered under warranty. Looked at the invoice from the service when they where done and it basically broke down like this.
Synthetic Fluids $100
Labor 3hr $295
Can't believe they charge 3 hrs for labor, I serviced my softail myself and it does not take three hours to do all three fluids.
So now its time to save for the JW Speakers, LED Headlamp & an upgrade to the amp.

Took mine in for my first service and when i got it back it still had the same oil filter on. I no because i made a mark on the original one. So when I took it back a week later they told me the mechanic no longer works there. Makes me wonder what else never got done right. Can't trust them to do it right. I will be doing my own from now on.

I can *easily* change the Primary, Crank and Trans - and put in Redline.
BUT... I rarely find anyone who posts what the 1k check entails... so here you go!
Service Checklist (Touring models):
1) Change engine oil and filter. Clean magnetic drain plug and install a new O-Ring.
2) Inspect oil lines and brake systems for leaks, contact or abrasion.
3) Inspect tires, tread depth and adjust pressure.
4) Check torque on wheel spokes (if equipped)
5) Change Primary chaincase lubricant. Clean magnetic drain plug and replace O-Ring.
6) Change transmission lubricant. Clean magnetic drag plug and replace O-Ring.
7) Check clutch adjustment (Touring and Police models)
8) Check level and condition of clutch fluid (if equipped)
9) Inspect drive belt and compensator sprocket; adjust belt (Touring models).
10) Inspect drive belt and sprockets; adjust belt (CVO and Police Models).
11) Inspect compensator sprocket isolators for wear at each rear tire change.
12) Check and lubricate brake and clutch controls; adjust as needed.
13) Inspect and lubricate the jiffy stand.
14) Inspect fuel lines and fittings for leaks, contact or abrasion.
15) Inspect brake fluid sight glass.
16) Inspect brake pads and discs for wear.
17) Check operation of electrical equipment and switches.
18) Lubricate steering head bearings.
19) Check air suspension pressure, operation and for leakage. (Touring, CVI, FLHYCUSE6, CVO FLTRUSE and Police models).
20) Lubricate hinges and latches on fuel door, Tour-Pak carrier and saddlebags, if equipped.
21) Check torque on critical fasteners.
22) Inspect, clean and tighten battery connections. Check battery voltage.
23) Inspect exhaust system for leaks, cracks and loose or missing fasteners or heat shields.
24) Road Test to verify component and system functions.
OK - so THAT is what they do for a 1k service.
The only part you really need a service manual for is really #21, and that is for the torque on critical fasteners.
