Cool Parting is such sweet sorrow . . . for a while at least!

Today, I pulled the trigger. I purchased a 2015 Ultra Limited (FLHTK?) in Mysterious Red Sun Glo. It had about seven miles when I test rode it for about 14 or so miles. I'm very excited, to say the least! The only downer is that I can't ride it off the lot because of the April 2015 Hydraulic Clutch Recall. I'm also waiting on them to install the 1 inch lowering kit, kick stand extension, and Michelin Commander II tires. Given what Ive read about the Dunlops, this seemed to be the right thing to do . . . but good lord they're expensive! I hope that I can trade the Dunlops in on a recall . . . we'll see how all of that plays out.

She's quite the looker . . . I believe we decided to call her 'Momo' after the Filipino slang for 'Monster'. Seems to fit . . .

Now, all I have to do is hurry up and wait. Let see . . . here's the rest I'm getting with it:
  • V&H Naked VO2 Air Filter Kit
  • V&H 4 1/2" HI-OUTPUT SLIP-ON MUFFLERS CHROME
  • Sissy Bar, Backrest and Pad
  • T-PAK Conversion Kit
  • Smart Siren II
  • Hidden Antenna (Yeah, I have some misgivings on this one . . but I'm a HAM - I SHOULD be able to make it work!)
  • An Extra Helmet Headset
  • Mechnical and Electrical Manual

I'll have a some fun projects to do . . . and some part from my Superglide Custom to sell or give away . . . we'll see how that works. I'll miss my FXDC . . . it was my first Harley and the reason why I'm staying within the brand. 100% totally reliable, fun to work and easy to ride on. If i'm lucky I'll pick up my new Ultra LTD this Thursday or Friday . . . .

Mark!

Congrats on the new bike!

I don't understand changing brand new tires...

To each his own.

I can see changing brands down the road when they wear out...

Hell, for what you spent on tires, you could have bought the tire and wheel warranty....

Very true on the tire and wheel warrantee . . . but if you aren't alive - the collecting is tough. Avoiding catastrophic tire loss at speed while my wife is on board is priority #1.

Where is this catastrophic tire loss occurring? Do they explode?

Tires, all of them, are rubber and metal.... each and every brand CAN fail.

One little piece of steel that you didn't see on the road is all it takes.

I'll stick with my Dunlops, and my skills.... I've had flats and blowouts.

Nice bike and some nice additions, but tires, I just read somewhere that there is a pending suit against Michelin for a highway speed blowout, I haven't seen anything on the Dunlop tire

And an honest reflection of my skills wouldn't indicate . . . avoid a blow out at all costs! Certainly you are correct that this can happen to anyone at anytime . . . Well here's an example . . .I bought a new rear tire on my FXDC even though it was just cosmetic damage . . .

Ouch!! That hurts!!

Ouch!! That hurts!!

This just ate away at my brain . . . especially when riding with my wife two up. I replaced that rear tire with a new one. My skills aren't as great as many folks . . . so I'll just not take the chance if I can avoid it. Some folks have that skill . . . including you . . . but not me . . .

Sweet bike... Same color as mine... Welcome to the club... I'd keep the Dunlops, but hey it's your money...
