The Tapping, the quest is over

Either a tin man put down or something else got screwed up. Chips could not get out of there anyway unless they were dust. It is possible with certain aftermarket high lift cams that you can slew the cradle around so the pushrod interferes and rubs the casting ridge.
HarleyCruiser's mod for fixing what Bikerscum discovered only locks one end of the rocker arm shaft which is how it should be done if someone is really worrying about the noise it produces. Remember, it hurts nothing.

I believe the bushings being sold now by the person on forum is a great answer to problem job
Without sitting for a while on the lathe
I feel that the casing has a lot of strength and it was all I had with .015 wall thickness and tapered
Use what you have to get job done
I am more discussed that Harley can't hold better tolerances
I guess we would have nothing to improve
Just my 2 cents

Loose rocker shafts
I have endured a tapping noise in my 2005 Roadglide since about 25k miles. (it now has 120k on it). Shimming the end play made a significant improvement but I still have more noise than I should. I will be pulling the rocker boxes for a look see this winter. If you ever take yours apart again, consider shimming the end play down to .004-.006. Thanks, buckla

Thanks again to all for the patience & support so far. I now have my ROCKOUT rocker inserts available. A lot of time & research has gone into bringing you what I feel is a great product. The kit includes the inserts, 2 Viton O-rings, simple installation hardware, & complete instructions.

Best mod I have done in years of messing with harley
A month or so aga harley cruiser was kind enough to send me some of his rocker lockers
Was nervous on installing because of warranty issues ,however
Mine drove me nuts with clatter n oi se between 2 and 3 rpm
Wife and I rode this am and decided to install
I can honestly say night and day difference so far
Sounds like a sweet sewing machine
I can finally enjoy the ride without cranking the radio up
Thanks to both biker scum and harley cruiser
