Using Intercom and CB
Was on a trip this weekend riding with a buddy so we were using CB to communicate and the wife and I were using the intercom. For whatever reason I could not hear myself when I used the intercom or the CB and yet my wife said she could hear herself when she used it. In the past I could hear myself which let me know it was working. The next thing was we were riding to a local casino in the area as they were have seafood night, crab, etc, and i would try to talk to my buddy on the Cb and he couldn't hear me or my wife if I had her try to reach him. He said he could tell we were keying the CB but couldn't hear us. I even unplugged the cord and even shut off the bike and still it didn't work. After we left it worked he could hear us. I still cannot hear myself transmit on CB or intercom though. Have I turned off something I am missing to where I cannot hear myself? I don't know why the CB started working again either all I know was I was cussing Harley for a they are selling for 28K and the CB wasn't working at the time. LOL

With the new upgrade, you will not hear yourself. To tell if you are transmitting, the CB light will come one.
If your buddy can not hear you, I might suggest one or two things are wrong...either his volume is low or your's is low. Use the left toggle when talking to increase your vol. He would use the loft toggle while you are talking to increase his vol.

First thing you need to remember is there is a separate volume for each system with these radios. You can change volume while each is active with the left toggle switch. So to increase the CB volume you push the ptt button and then bump the left toggle to increase the volume. I believe this raises the level out and in. It is a balancing act using all the bells and whistles on these bikes. I just got back from a road trip and used the intercom, CB, bluetooth interchanged with USB, and the GPS simultaneously. Took a couple miles to get it all smooth and choose what fed the speakers or headset along with proper vox, squelch, and volumes.

As far as not hearing the CB, the connector on the helmet side of the cable loosens easily and needs to be pushed in pretty hard. That problem could have on your riding buddy's end but most likely yours since he could tell you were keying the mic.

It isn't the connection. I can talk on intercom and CB, I just can't hear myself when I use it like I could before.

You won't anymore. Don't know why they took that feature out either. As far as the comments about the connection, those were referring to the your riding partner not hearing you when you were trying to transmit.
