Cool What performance gains can I expect?

Purchased an Amber Whiskey Road Glide special used at the end of August with 2200 miles on odometer. The 103 cu.in motor with Vance & Hines slip ons runs and sounds great. When you I get around to staging up the motor to over 100 Horse and 100 torque what can I expect for seat of the pants performance? Will they leave some rubber on the road or do they just get a little faster and louder?

Just a little faster and louder...but it runs much cooler and a lot more fun to ride!

I'm used to a 01 road king with an 88 and stage 1. The 103 has more power and very nice sound but still no tire smoke. Your power numbers look real good would that be a stage 2?

My stock 103 would break the tire loose on the right pavement. I have open AC, PV, and Fatcat now and it's a little easier but you still have to try to get it loose.

Speaking from my experiences this is what you will get. More motor noise coming from probably a more open air cleaner, (hence you will now get oil dripping down on your cam cover), probably more exhaust noise coming from more power. Less "around town manners, not as smooth, quite like a galloping horse. Good chance of other parts like compensators failing quicker. The only upside is your mileage will be better, (my previous built Road King got about 9-10 more mpg than my new bone stock SG). I like to tour, I will like my new bike far more in the future. Your choice.

All good comments my group of riders like to horseplay through the gears and make some noise. I been lucky enough to ride some metric bikes over the years that were incredibly powerful but I just wondered if I built mine to make over a hundred of hp and torque if it would be similar. I would love to light the tires on my 2015 RGS but doesn't sound like it happens till you really swap the engine to large Cubic inches. I'm going to make it a little louder with no cat, and V&H FP3. That should keep me in step with my local riders and improve on an already great bike. Thanks to all.

I'll agree on the noise and mileage, but smoothness is a matter of the tune. There is no need for that to degrade. Mine rides out smoother than ever after Stage 1.

you can get 100/100 by doing headwork and cams -- along with better air cleaner and 2/1 exhaust and a good tuner / also need a lock up clutch -- this will cost you -- you will be able to do burnouts and perhaps wheelies -- done enough time you will break belts / no problems with the comp / I have 16 RG for touring and 06 SG with a S&S 124 built by star racing for mayhem in the streets
