If you are a VISUAL type person that needs to SEE things to better understand... this YouTube video series ( 3 parts ) will give you a good understanding on the teardown and rebuild of the fork assy.

May I ask what happened to the video? I'm visual, LOL.

The top fork nut was incorporated into the Legend Axeo kit.

And this is the route I went for my chrome lowers. ,Bought a set of take-offs from the classified section, sent them to Sport Chrome, and received a set of lowers which were absolutely beautiful.
Well, until I took a stone or something on the highway and now have a ding/chip on one.

I installed the HD premium low single cartridge kit. One side I got all together, the other side had a taller spring and I couldn't compress it. Took it to the dealer and they charged me $20 to compress the spring and put the cap on.

I'm wondering why when I select the video it always says the video is private? Anyone else have this problem?

I put my chrome sliders on over Christmas, pretty straight forward. One thing to take note of is they require 24oz of oil for 49mm forks. Therefore, you need a minimum of three bottles of fork oil. I only grabbed 2 so I had to run to Madison on Sunday morning to pick up another one to finish. Put the SE heavy fork oil in. Only real problem I had was trying to get 30 ft/lbs on the bottom bolt, seemed to be turning inside the tube even with the spring compressed. Used the stock springs. Anyone else have that problem?

I didn't torque mine to spec until I had it fully assembled with the cap back on. Even then it wasn't easy to keep it from turning and torque it at the same time.

I heated then bent a 3/4" bolt and used it on the fork caps. Could also use a 3/4" coupler and a wrench.
