Default Learning the GPS

I have been working on learning the GPS and found a couple of things I should ask about.

1. I go on the Harley Ride Planner website and create a route from point A to point B, a direct route down the freeway. I load the route to my GPS. Even though the route was create to go straight down the freeway, the GPS keeps telling me to get off the freeway. I found that the GPS was set up for Scenic Route.
Do the settings in the GPS override the planned route even though the route was specifically created to follow a certain road? How would that work if I had a planned route on freeways and scenic roads?

2. Up in the top right hand corner is the word "Repeat". When the GPS tells me..."Drive 12 miles", and I don't hear it, or I want to hear it again, I think I am supposed to select the repeat button, however it never repeats the directions. Am I doing it wrong or is this not working?

Thanks

The settings in the GPS will over ride the ones you painstakingly setup in the trip planner. I hate it doing that as well. Make sure you have the preferences setup (especially the avoidance settings) prior to importing the route. BTW, this happens on all GPS's, even Garmin.

As for the repeat button, I believe that is to repeat the last segment of driving. To get the audio to repeat, I usually tap the direction bar (the one showing the next turn, etc.). If you don't have music playing, you can press volume up and it will repeat the next turn or instruction.

Make sure you have the latest software update installed as well. They improved some of the features and fixed some bugs. It is up to 1.19.2 now.

(I have the exact same bike as you. Nice color choice!!)

After dicking around with the ride planner, I found a web site, lawabiddingbiker.com which has great videos for $19.95. I bought the one on Ride Planner. Very good and learned a lot.

Yes, I have seen some of their videos on YouTube. Ryan does a good job.

If you spend a little, and I mean a little time with ride planner you will see that placing locations first, then going back and changing them to waypoints, the system will not override your route. You must learn where to place the waypoints at critical junctions so the system knows that you are not looking for the fastest or shortest route!! (all GPS work the same). I can create a route on back roads very quickly and the route will be followed dead nuts on. This takes a little practice and it always works as advertised for me. A lot of people will say different but this has been my experience! Grant.
