Default Oil Cooler in Limited

Just a thought, on air cooled motors, there is an oil cooler, the twin cooled do not. Would it be possible to add an aftermarket cooler? and what if any difference would it make, positive or negative.

I thought the same thing. I have an Ultra not a Limited, but wonder why the limited did not also use oil cooler for even better cooling.

I am sure you could add one if you wanted.

But you won't be able to install it in the normal place like the other Big Twin bikes.

The water pump on the Limited is in that location, so there isn't any room for a oil cooler there.

I'm sure there's a company out there who would happily take your money and sell you a cooler. I'm also sure that your bike came with a 2-year, unlimited-mileage warranty and no oil cooler.

Hmmm, my Ultra also came with a 2 year warranty and no radiators or fans.

Ought to tell you something.

People worry way too much about their oil. Change it every 5,000 miles, make sure there's enough in there. That's about all you need to do other than ride it.

I agree. I drive a big rig for a living...the oil temp runs at 235 degrees all day every day. We change the oil every 36,000 miles!

Your oil runs cooler in the wetheads anyways, the entire engine runs cooler because of cooling the exhaust with the fluid, thus the radiator's, no need for the oil cooler. Buy you the dip stick with the oil temp in it and check it out for yourself.

You could install an oil filter adapter
and then a remote oil filter, but with the water cooler I don't really think you need it.

I used to worry about oil temp and spent money to keep em cooler on all my previous bikes and thought about it on this one. However, from everyone I have talked to that said to not worry about it, plus I have a full seven years wheel to wheel warranty...................I'm just gonna ride the thing.
