Default Still lovin' my Limited (But hatin' on the CO DOT)!!

Went for a very pleasant ride today. Nowhere in particular, just puttin' around.

This bike seems to run better, smoother etc. with every passing mile - 6000 & counting as of now. Just an absolute pleasure to ride in every way!

Now, some free (and, admittedly, unasked-for) advice for anyone planning to be in the Boulder CO area for sightseeing etc. this summer - be prepared to be held up on essentially every road/route in this part of the state. It seems that the CO DOT has decided to dig up pretty much every road and shut down all traffic flow as much as possible within about a 100 mile radius.

I am NOT exaggerating (much) at all! For the most part, the few scenic roads that are not destroyed by "construction" are closed due to the County digging up the bridges over the creeks and then leaving without replacing them.

Also, if you see a "Road painting operations ahead" sign, turn around and find another route. This state has severely outdated painting equipment that gets more paint on passing vehicles than it does on the road - and that paint is made to stick to anything and everything REALLY well. It's almost impossible to get it off and if you complain to the state/county/city, whatever, you'll promptly be told to go "F" yourself!

The same goes for when they're putting down new asphalt or chip-seal. They spray that greasy, sticky black goop all over everything and then force traffic to drive on it. It makes a huge mess.

They're also very fond of dumping loose, abrasive gravel ("chip-seal") on top of the tar and leaving it to be thrown up by every tire that runs over it to damage other vehicles. Again, see above for the state's response to anyone who complains about it.

Whoever the bureaucrat/hack/crook is that runs these highway programs is incredibly incompetent and probably grossly corrupt on top of it.

Seriously, my advice would be to only tour the state south of I-70. Everything north of it is totally AFU! That, or bypass the state entirely and check out Utah, Montana, Wyoming etc. That's where I'm gonna go this summer!

To be fair, the interstates are construction-free, but of course the traffic is even more terrible than usual due to there being essentially no other open routes to bypass it.

I moved here 32 years ago and I can honestly say that I've never seen anything even remotely like this before.

City of Boulder is the least biker(motorcycle) friendly city in Colorado anyway, just go around it. Nothing to see but college hipsters and bicycles. Boulder is 27 sq miles surrounded by reality.

It's not as bad as it looks other then rush hours around the cities.
We are going camping Thursday and coming back Sunday to avoid as much weekend traffic as possible.Attachment 473187Attachment 473188
