Default Best oil for Rushmores?

I'm coming up on 5k and I want to start doing my own service. My question to you is what's the best oil out there for all 3? I seen the SYN3 at the dealership and was about to buy some but I thought I'd pick your brains for advice.. I'm sure theres better alternatives out there. Thanks in advance

Since you're a newby and from San Diego (like me) I'll be easy on you.
Most will go with an oil designed for each compartment. Usually Mobil 1 V-twin synthetic (or similar) 20w50 for the engine, Amsoil severe gear 75w140 for the transmission, and Redline Syn Primary case oil. Although I just did my buddy's O/C with Mobil 1 in all three, since that's what he bought! Everyone has their favorites, there's lots of threads on this.
Your mileage will vary, it's easy & much cheaper than paying the stealership that $250.

Read the oil thread, lots of really good info. As far as me, I like HD Formula+ in the chain case, HD Syn3 in the engine, and trans. I like HD products simply because they are available at dealerships.

Mobile 1 20-50 vtwin engine
Red line shock proof tyranny
Harley formula+ actually works good in the primary

It really depends on what color your bike is

Personally, I'm not a "same in all three" kinda guy...my bike's not a Rushmore, but here's the three I use/recommend:

- Motor = Spectro Platinum 20W/50: http://www.spectroshop.com/www-spect...om/prod_3.html
- Tranny = Spectro 6-Speed: http://www.spectroshop.com/6-speed-t...oil/cat_7.html
- Primary = Spectro HD Primary: http://www.spectroshop.com/6-speed-t...l/prod_56.html

Yes, it's a tad $pendy, but you bought a +$20K toy and want it to last, right?

Living in Switzerland it's actually somewhat difficult to get your hands on the "good stuff", for example Amsoil. And if you do, it's like putting liquid gold into your holes - expensive! But I did in fact use Amsoil on the 1000 mile oil change of my FLD and will do so as well for the (overdue) one for the RGU. I use 20w50 for the engine, 10w40 for the primary and transmission oil 75w90 for, well, the transmission. I still have the clunk with the FLD but I'm finding that I can find neutral better. Finding neutral with the RGU is currently still a pain, irrespective of things being warm or cold. I hope this will the better with the oil change.
In the future I think I will be switching to Mobil1 as this is more readily available here and also, without a doubt, excellent. I actually run that in my (don't beat me) car.
