Still have my 2002 883R, and last year purchased a 2015 Street Glide. I wanted the big touring bike for the cross-country trips. I wanted the big motor, and all the bells & whistles like cruise control and the radio. I definitely wanted the ABS & linked brakes, and the storage and two-up comfort that comes with a big bagger. I'm very happy with my Street Glide, and still ride my Sportster when I want a more raw, simpler bike. Yes, I am H-D spoiled

I went from an Iron with a 1250 kit in it to a 2012 Road King then to a 2015 Ultra Limited because I found it easier to ride with the club and I also really enjoyed the audio system. I put a detachable fairing on the Road King with a system in it along with speakers in vented lowers I put on the bike too.

I upgraded to a street glide a few years ago. I've actually had several bikes, though. The big draw for me was the radio and the way the fairing cuts through the wind. All that being said, I regularly tell myself that I will sell the big bike and start riding my sporty again. It's just more fun.
The street glide is a great bike, though!

I did not want to trade in the 09 Nightster that I have. So now I have the best from both worlds. A 2015 Ultra Limited and the 09 Nightster. Each of them have their own benefits and I won't give up any of them.

I am torn between the two bikes. I had a softail, moved on to an Ultra Classic, and I now have a 2003 Sportster Sport sitting in the garage next to the Ultra. I like the ultra for the comfort on long hauls, but really like the sportster for carving up the mountain roads. The sportster brings out the hooligan in me! Motorcycling at it's most basic, takes me back to riding mini-bikes, and dirt bikes. Basic, smile inducing, extremely fun carving up the twisties on a sportster!

I don't think there is a way to "upgrade" from a sporty as it is a perfect motorcycle IMO. That said I have a Road King which gives me the big bike comfort and strips down in seconds to a simpler machine. Pretty much as nimble as a sporty too for such a big bike. I've never been a fairing or radio guy personally. At least not yet...

Sportsters are awesome. I did have to sell mine but not really because I wanted to. It's a much more pure ride.

Main reason I got the street glide is my back can't do more than 100 miles on a sporty.

I love my sporty but I want something more comfortable for longer distance I really don't want to get rid of it but it's where I can afford only to have one bike

When I owned one it was a 75 mile bike which meant that was a far as I wanted to ride it and of course it needed fuel at that point.Went to Touring bikes and never regretted it.
