Default Ambient temperature gauge

I very seldom use the ambient temp gauge, but take a quick look at it when I hit the info button to check oil pressure. Last couple rides the gauge read a constant 77 degrees, and then shifted between 77, 78 and 81. Well I can attest that the temp outside was at or near 95 degrees.
Any ideas on what is wrong with it or ideas to fix it? Heck I am not sure where the sensor is or what it looks like! (I think it is in the fairing)

It's on the left side of the frame neck. IIRC it's white in color with a 2 wire connector. I don't know if to have the EITMS "enabled" but it seems to use that sensor to become "active" when the temp reads 81* or higher.

The sensor is on left side of bike neck area it's white can't miss it. I would make a visual inspection of sensor clean the connection, check wire.

better than the older batwing bikes,, the sensor was INSIDE the fairing - so we got the air temp INSIDE the fairing,,, what a joke..
this is better but not much - remember - its only an indicator...

The temperature gauge isn't really for telling the temperature. It's an OCD indicator. If it bothers you that it is useless, you have OCD. Just ignore it. Use your phones weather app.

The temp readout on mine is always within 1 degree of the digital thermometer in my garage

I wish that gauge was for engine temperature....that would be helpful.

I actually have that temp setting as one of my gauges on my Power Vision and it's pretty accurate and always displayed...
It gives me a good scale to the engine temp which is another temp setting on my PV...
I guess I'm also a little OCD as well....

OCD? I just want things to work the way they should. There are other things that I am OCD about!
