Default Decel pop

Here's the question, how much should my 110 motor decel pop?

This is my 3rd Harley. First one I just did slip on's, never decel popped.
My second bike was a 103 Street Glide. I did the air intake, header and exhaust. Used a Power Vision tuner but never dyno'd it. It would occasionally but rarely pop.

My new ride is a110 CVO. Put on the Reinhart Power Duals header and exhaust. It already has the upgraded air intake. I had it dyno'd at a Harley dealer where their tech has a great rep. Numbers were good. Runs good. But it frequently pops decelerating, engine braking, etc. not every time but at least some every ride. I thought it might settle in after a couple tanks of gas to let the computer settle in, but no.

I feel like it shouldn't be doing it much at all. Or do some just pop some and others don't? Mileage also isn't quite what I think it should be but that may just be the larger motor. Is that at all related?

I'm wondering if I should have it tuned elsewhere or ask the dealer to take another crack at it, or it just doesn't matter.

If you know how to use your tuner. Add 5-20% to VEs in the 20 Kpa colum on front and rear cylinder. Your tuner guy might make slight adjustments with out dyno time. I would talk to your tuner guy first.

If you have no intake or exhaust leaks. I would take a quick look at that to.

There is some good info here:

I think it's interesting reading that a good running, dyno tuned bike can normally decal pop and you actually have to detune the bike to get rid of it.

I know right... But deceleration pop sure is annoying though. I can't 100% agree with that article. Getting rid of some decel popping is a bit exaggerated in that article in my opinion. Fuel moto has more than once explain how to get rid of decel popping in the forums.

I have a buddy with a Rinehart full exhaust. He had Vance and Hines slip-ons that would decel pop like crazy and before he purchased the Rinehart system, he called Rinehart and asked them specifically if there would be any decel popping and he was told there shouldn't be any if the bike was properly tuned. They even hooked up with the dealership where he had the bike tuned and talked to the guy doing the tuning. Result, no decel popping. His only complaint was that he lost some HP and torque, so he doesn't know if that's a compromise the tuner made to get rid of any decel popping or not. But, he's happy that he doesn't get decel popping.

So your saying you spend all this money on an exhaust/air/mufflers and tuner system and you have to de-tune it some so it wont pop? Sounds like a waste of money to me.

I think a lot of things are a waste of money. Some don't share my opinion. I'm pretty sure my buddy doesn't share yours, but I'll pass it on to him if it makes you feel better.

Who cares how it runs on deceleration as long it runs well on acceleration. Isn't that why we want these things to do is go like hell on throttle.
