Default auxiliary light bulb

1 of my auxiliary light bulbs blew out. harley sells the whole bulb and lens for $69 but not the bulb ? took it apart the rubber cover is glued on but i got it off ripped it some .The bulb that is in it is a h3-35w has clips just like any other bulb came right out is there a reason just the bulb can't be replace the rubber cover is not sealed had a big hole where the wire came out?

My suggestion - if you have it out, whey not just put a new one in and move forward.

Lots of folks (including folks at the parts counter, and probablt a lot of new techs) are under the impression that you can't replace just the bulb. The reason for that is probably because lots of touring bikes have LED lights, and they don't have serviceable bulbs. Hell, my friend and I were just talking about this . . . he got bent over for a whole new assembly, when it was just a new bulb that he needed. However, I don't see any reason why you couldn't replace the bulb. Look up part number 68000056. And, there's a section on how to replace them in the service manual. So, I'd say they're replaceable!
