I think after the "Wow" a new engine factor settles down the 17 s will not sell all that well. I think the MOCO did a great job with the engine but also a little too late. Discounting the Rushmore's will hurt the 17's sales. I rode the street glide and ultra limited low and did not see a huge difference for the money. Great bikes though but i will stay with my 16 Sg 103ho for the next few years

there were two things noticeable off the bat. The engine torque was monsterous. it makes the 103 HO rushmore (what I traded in) look like a kitten. much much MUCH better engine power. I didn't notice any engine heat. there is a fan above the oil cooler that cools the fins. the handling is great. it would do better in the turns than I wanted to. I will adjust once I am more comfortable on the bike. I did not dial in the rear shock before I left the dealer last night. I'm getting her out today and will be doing my adjustments. another noticeable thing was the smaller primary. Its a big difference. the big clutch noise is gone. this thing shifts great and finding neutral is very easy. The clutch pull is very easy. I never noticed how hard my 15's clutch pull was, but its a very noticeable difference.
now with that said, none of the after market engine chrome thingies I bought with my 15 road glide would fit the new engine. Basically, they got stuck on the bike. The biggest disappointment was the exhaust. I had vance and hines monster ovals and they do not fit the new bike. the dealer told me that the pipes have different diameters. so until they come out with some new exhausts I am stuck with the stock mufflers.

I think that's probably a good thing. I like new stuff. I'm probably sticking with my 2013. It's cammed and staged, so it's still probably faster than the M8.

One side affect the new release has had on me is that I have this new, strong urge to do engines mods on my 11,000 mile Ultra Classic. Stage 3 or 4 without boring the cases, whatever just to make it a little more free running. Did it to my '14 Street Bob and I love riding it, but it's not a tourer. I am trying to resist the urge, but I find myself at Fuelmoto, S&S and Screamin' Eagle pages about every chance I get!
