Well, the Softails (STs) lose a little power through the counter balancers. But they are STs and those balancers make them the smooth cruisers that they are. But aside from that, I am genuinely interested ... do the Dynas and STs get the same cams and gear ratios with the 103 as the touring models? What allocations do they need to make so that the same motor can power both a stripped down cruiser and a loaded down bagger?

 

I'm not sure I'll go to the 107. I like my 103 just fine and test rode several 107s at dealer open house. The M8's seem like nice bikes, but don't seem to have any more bells and whistles than what I have now and the difference between the 107 and 103 isn't earth shattering under my butt dyno.

 

I might consider trading my '15 Limited with its dinky little 103 HO for an M8 - when hell freezes into a solid block of hell-ice!

I love mine for what it is, just the way it is.

 

The 103 HO in he touring bikes have different cams and compression than the 103 HO in the Dyna and Softail. Much stronger running setup on the touring.

 

I sure do love my '15 Limited. Have not ridden a M8 yet 'cause I am not going to buy one any time soon. Just keep my '15 for now.

 

I test rode a new limited with the M8. While I did like the extra torque I thought the greatest gain was the suspension.. All in all I was impressed but not enough to part with my 14 limited. I have mine the way I like it and am not willing to start over again. But they are really good bikes.

 

Not really. Put a stock 850cc I-4 in a 900 lb. touring bike frame and we'll see who gets smoked. Or, show me a stock 850cc I-4 that will smoke a 1200 Sportster.
