Default Heated clothing and battery tender ?

I know the ideal situation is the use the hookup with fuse to the battery (already have a tender hooked up), but just got an CL deal on a heated jacket for the girlfriend and I want to head out today-- can I use the battery tender lead while using the other lead from the battery for mine gear? Is the fuse in the tender 7.5?

I know this isn't the ideal thing, but for the next two days, this is the plan.

Honestly, it's been so long since I messed with it that I don't recall for sure. I think I may have swapped it out for a 15.

Rushmores come with the battery tender pigtail from the factory. That lead is run through the 20 Amp fused Accessories Circuit. It will handle the GF's heated jacket just fine.

The heated jacket should have come with its own harness. It hooks right up to the battery, you can run the connector up the rider backrest slot and right to her jacket. It's no big thing, takes 20 min to hook up.

H-m-m-m . . . The issue with using a Battery Tender Pig Tail for Heated Gear is the Amperage of the Circuit.

A Battery Tender only puts out amout 1.5 Amperes. Heated Gear will draw far more than 1.5 Amps. More like 10 - 20 Amperes at full output. Depending on how much Heated Gear we're talking about and how much you crank it up/how cold the weather is. Putting a bigger Fuse in the Pig Tail isn't a real bright idea. The thing that determines how many Amperes that a Wire can handle is the size of the Wire. The size of the Wire is the metal part, not the rubber/plastic insulation. Different Wire size Pig Tails have identical external diameters . . . so don't go by that.

At the very least; using a Battery Tender Pig Tail with too small of Wires, can cause a significant Voltage Drop in the Circuit. That Voltage Drop will limit the maximum amount of heat that the Heated Gear will produce when cranked up.

At the worst, you'll have an Electrical Fire right in the general neighborhood of your crotch. It's the sort of Darwinian decision that tends to improve the gene pool! Your call!

Its 20 amp ckt/fuse and bigger wire than a gerbing pig tail.......

Short term not a issue.

Anybody who's installed a gerbing harness knows how small the wires are hooked up to the battery.
