Default Throttle issue after WO578 bar install....HELP

So I thought the install of the 10" bars went well on my '15 FLHXS. Took my time and gently fed the wires thru the new bars.
For a father/son bonding moment I got my son to do the TBW 6 wire plug dis-assembly and the subsequent re-assembly. I didn't take pics but left it all to him to write down and double check.
We installed the bars and put everything back together and attempted to fire. Cranked over 4.times then started. No throttle response, grip springs back so I'm sure the gears at the end of bars are engaged.
Took TBW plug apart after looking at (attached) pic I found on the internet. Wires mixed up.
Put it together going by what I see in the pic. Will not start at all now.
Many many threads of people wrecking the little green plug. Do you think this could be the problem or could've I shorted something out when I plugged it in and tried to start it the first time.
Many DTC numbers showing up. Cleared them, but really need to start bike to see what DTC comes back correct? Thanks!

Does this look like the correct late model Rushmore arrangement?

Try reversing the 2 reds and 2 blacks to the opposite side.I followed the wiring from that picture also and had the same issue as you.after switching,it worked !!!!

This is where buying the service manual pays for its self - after you figure this out... get one,, looks like the above post should do the trick for you

even IF your looks correct,,, one wire may not be seated? one wire may be pinched?

good luck

I would bet it's the green plug , the slightest pull on that fragile aggravating POS will damage the connection.

Thanks for the pics, Punk! I think what I've done is looked at my pic, ( the one I showed above in my post) thinking that is the plug coming from the bars, when in fact it is the female end coming from the bike. Duh.

Check your Molex plug. My BIL changed his bars on his '15 Ultra. He experienced what you are describing. Finally took it in to the dealer, they replaced handlebar wires, ECM and the tech could not diagnose what was wrong. Long story short, the tech finally figured out it was a bad molex plug. One of the wires that was in there would work fine during normal startup and idle, when you'd rev it or try to drive, it would vibrate the wire loose and he'd experience what you seem to be.

Worth a shot anyways. Good luck....

Thanks for the comments Tick. I'll let everybody know what I find when I change the wires to the proper order.

I've done several bar changes and can tell you that the infamous green plug is easily damaged. The pins inside are very thin and can be bent over easily. Double check that plug. After checking the plug to make certain the pins are properly connected, I put a piec of shrink tube over it to secure it together. As for the molex plugs, the diagram posted it the key, you have two darn near identical sets of wires but have different color grouping. Check that and the pins are seated.
