The biggest upgrade between the two is the 6.5 navigation screen. That stereo does quite a bit more. If you don't need all that then you may just get the less expensive model but I enjoy and use all the stuff on the special. I think it is well worth every penny. I also think that the special at the end of the name will probably get you more on resale.

The adjustable coil overs give a much better ride than the air shocks on the standard

Yes they do, I have just about got mine dialed in. Very pleased with my RGS, it's a keeper.

It is on The RGS also. And it's not just abs. It's the linked abs brake system that's standard on the Special. For me it was well.worth the extra.

Not just a 6.5 navigation screen, the special has NAV.

I purchased the standard because, I knew I was going to stage one the stereo, did not want ABS, put performance shocks on and use my phone for Nav. I am happy with my decision but that may not work for you.

Here-here...

My first bike with ABS. Absolutely worth the extra $$$ for the brakes alone, jmo. When you stomp on 'em, those things are scary good. Everything else is icing.

I had a '14 FLHX and really liked it, until it broke down. I traded it for a '15 FLHTCU which is basically the same bike. There was some difference in the ride/handling between the two.
When I got the '16 FLHXS, I was instantly amazed as to how much better the Street Glide was over the Ultra Classic. The wife and I still ride the Ultra, but just on long trips..............

What was different in the ride /handling from the 14 FLHX and the 16 FLHXS and the 15 Ultra Classic bikes? Why was there so much more of a difference?
