2015 Road Glide Special Rebuild Project
#21
I decided to change the color of the forks because I like the blacked out look. I also wanted the ability to go back to chrome uppers if I wanted to later on. There was no damage to the forks and the blacking out process is a part of the rebuild that I am doing. I decided to do as much as I could to the bike while the other parts needed for the rebuild are on order.

The finish of the plastidip, in my opinion, is between flat and denim black. If you add the glossifier it becomes more of a satin finish. The texture on the plain plastidip is one of slight rubber. If you add the glossifier the texture becomes significantly more "tacky" to the touch. Thanks for your reply!

Step 2.5 Blackout Smaller Parts
I have continued to black out parts on the bike. I decided that while I had the time and the plastidip that I would blackout the following parts:
Exhaust
Primary
Floorboards
Brake Pedal
Rear Foot Pegs
Front and Rear Turn Signals
Tank Console
Fairing Support Braces
See the pictures for disassemble and paint.
Notes on the process:
1. The pipes are a set of used chrome CFR Exhaust that I purchased from Arizona Cycle Parts on EBay. They had extreme road rash on the tips. With the use of a dremel and plastidip they turned out to look better than I thought.
2. Use the primer if you are going to paint your exhaust with high temp exhaust paint. It will not hold and create runs if you decide to bypass that step.
