Default trim question on 2014 ultra classic

I purchased a chrome trim rectangle that goes around the stock stereo my question is does the black one come off or does the chrome on go over top the black one? Can't seem to figure out how I would et it over the black on with the ignition switch in the way. Thanks for any help

Chrome over the black, there should be small pieces of adhesive on the chrome that you'll have to peel off and just stick it on.

The aftermarket pieces do not have a notch for the ignition switch. The only one I have seen that fits well and clears the switch is the one HD sells. The aftermarket can be used but most will rub the switch.

I just went and looked at mine and there is only about 1/8' clearance after it is installed, but it does not rub.

If it is that close and you cannot slide it between the inner fairing and the switch, you may have to loosen the 4 fairing bolts on the forks, tilt the fairing forward and install it.

Was gonna say mine was after market and with a little persuasion it went on. Glad it worked for you.
