Default Motorcycle trailer

Looking at a tandem axle trailer for my bike and a friends. We both have the 2014 limited. This trailers measurements inside are 7' 6" x 14'. It seems like I would be able to stagger both bikes into this trailer. He didn't use it to haul bikes. It has the two strips of ratchet tie down points running the length of the trailer with 4 tie downs. Do you think this will work for me and what else might I need to do to trailer to make it safe to have the bikes in there for long trips? The price is a great deal Thanks in advance

I have a 7x14 that I put 2 touring bikes in.

It is a little snug, but offset your chocks, tie them down tight, and you should be fine.

Make sure you get a Motorcycle Stand/Chock. Either one works great. I use the one from Harbor Freight and have no issues.

Is there a method to the madness of tieing them down? Would freak out if they got damaged but willing to set up trailer any way I need to to keep them safe

Using the Harley Tie Down Bracket for the front end is probably the best option. Many use the rear crash bars to stabilize the rear.

I use 6 straps on each bike, and trailer chocks.

Some say 6 is overkill, I say it only takes a minute, and I've never scratched a bike in the trailer... and I've towed thousands of miles....

Completely agree....have towed like this many times with more straps than most and never an issue.

Should work fine. Agree with SM - 6 ties each bike, use wheel chocks. Stagger bikes.

Straps and tie downs are cheap compared to fixing scratches or worse if something moves or comes lose, especially with road conditions in some places. I use actual ratchet straps and not just the push-to-release straps. I use a minimum of 4 ratchet straps and soft ties attached directly to the frame whenever possible. So far the only time I've trailered an Ultra is coming home from picking it up when I didn't have any way to get both it and the vehicle I drove there back home. Other bikes without lower fairings are a bit easier to hook up.
