looked inside for battery tender lead in side cover to no aval not there plugged tender lead into plug in for vest is this okay
thanks bba
Battery tender lead is wider than before and under left side cover.Vest plug might work, though.Battery tender will take a long time to charge a dead battery. It's design is a trickle charger.I would use a normal battery charger to recharge.
A tender will not be enough to charge up a dead battery. You will want to get a 10 amp AUTOMATIC charger for the job. This will allow for a heavier charge at first and then reduce down to a trickle at the end. You don't want to go heavier than 10 amp charge. A battery that is chargeable would probably take about 2 hours to bring back up to snuff.
If the battery has fallen below 3.5 amps the tenders wont charge it no matter how long you leave it plugged in unless you undo the negative cable from the battery. Undo the neg and you will have no problem using the battery tender to charge it but it will take a lot longer than using a 10 amp charger.
It is the Battery Tender Plus. I have no idea how to determine whether my dead battery had a 3.5 amp charge in it, but it was "dead" as far as turning over the starter goes. See pic below:
