Default Installing Switch for Auxiliary lights

Hi,

I am thinking about installing Auxiliary lights on my 2014 Street Glide Special. Does the ignition switch need to be removed to install the switch on the dash or does the dash just slide out when the side screws are removed?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply. Is it necessary to have the alignment tool for the ignition switch or can the fork be left in the locked position and still allow the dash to be removed and the installation of the Aux light switch?

If you don't mess up the tumbler alignment, you don't need the tool.

I just went through this. I didn't pay attention to the alignment and was faced with buying the alignment tool which is absurdly expensive - pushing $100, I think. I ended up making one from a short length of 1/4" copper tubing. If you ended up needing one, I can send you a picture of mine. Not as pretty as some of the others I've seen, but it works well.

FYI on the 2014 models you do not have to remove the ignition switch just the screws on the sides of the panel.

That's right. Done it a few times, little bit of a fumble, but no need to get the ignition switch out.

Thank you

I fitted auxillary lights and did not need to remove ignition switch. Just undo the two screws and the panel will come away or you can reach up behind it and undo the two screws holding the blank switch.

Is the switch panel already installed with the blanks or does that need to be purchased with the $119.99 kit?
