1000 mile service
Ok, I don't mind spending money but don't appreciate being ripped off either. My dealer is quoting me $500 for the 1000 mile service on my ultra limited.
Is it just me or Wtf. They said it included oil change and a bike inspection. Really, that seems more then excessive. Also said that if they don't do it it can bring my warranty into question.
Now, I can change my own oil and inspect my own bike and do it south of $75. So is this the privilege of owning a Harley getting ripped or am I missing something?

Don't fall for the scare tactics. I usually let the dealer do the first service and then I will do the others. They can't void your warranty unless they can prove what you did (or didn't do) was directly responsible for the failure. I keep a log of the services I do on my bike along with the receipts for the fluid changes I do at that time.

it's a big rip-off and a 1/2 day ordeal. Just get the service manual for $48. Change 3 fluids and check critical fasteners and a few items .. mine were all tight. would have been a waste for me. Also dropped in Mobil 1 synthetic -Redline tranny and Redline primary .. shifts much smother and quieter now.

Wait until you have them change a tire...HoHo!!, bring some Formula+ as **** lube.
HD service prices are ridiculous and totally unnecessary. They need to get real and understand we're not Bill Gates.
I do all my own service. Just get the HD manual and not some POS from AutoZone, grab your wrenches and go to town.

Wow, I thought the $390 I paid today was bad. I could have driven 30 minutes farther and had it done for $320. What chapped my a$$ though was the quote this dealer gave me of $100 to flash the ECM to get the passing lights to stay on with the high beams. Needless to say I declined their generous offer.
