Extending switch wires for handlebar change...
I'm about to install a set of 12" apes on my '14 CVO Road King. The stock bars are internally wired. My question is do I need to remove the connectors on the switch wires to pull them out of the bar? I'm going to use Namz 8" extensions when I reinstall them in the new bars. The Namz extensions have connectors on both ends.
On every other bar change I've ever done, I've removed the connectors, pulled the wires through the new bars and reinstalled the connectors. This does not seem to be the same procedure on the new can/bus install. Can someone please advise, thx.........Rich

I put a set of 13" Prime Apes on my SGS a few weeks ago. I left the connectors on for the brake (left) side. For some reason, the stock connectors wouldn't reach the whole way through on the throttle (right) side. Ended up removing the connectors. I purchased the HD wire extension (plug n play) kit but ended up splicing new pieces of wire for all the throttle side wires. There was no way I was going to be able to push/pull the TBW wires and the switch wires through the bars with the connectors intact. If I were doing the install again, I'd just save my $$ and not purchase the wire extensions. Splicing really isn't that bad and it makes it easier to pull the wires through compared to the bulky connectors. This was my first set of bars to install ever so perhaps with more practice I could do it with the connectors. Wasn't worth the frustration.
