Default Wire up mic. 2014 touring

I'm been playing with the headset. And I hate the cord. So was wanting to know if anyone has tried To just wire up a mic to the 7 pin. And just broad cast threw the stereo speakers for cb/phone maybe put mic on faring

So, the Harley Mic with the 7-pin adapter won't work on a 2014?

I like that idea. Would never wear a headset, but a mic, very interesting.

Actually, the Harley mic will work - but you have to key the PTT button at the same time.

I like that idea too! Was thinking the same thing. I'd rather pull over and use it than wear the headset all the time.

I don't want that big cb looking mic from harley. I'm going to go to the electronic store today and look to see what I can find. And going to try it.

I would like to see where you are going to mount the mike on the fairing. You need to be pretty close to get it to pick up your voice.

I took the headset that came with it, and cut off the headphones (speakers). Then I fashioned a clip for my helmet strap. Since I dont want to wear it all the time, I plug it in and leave it on the tank in a small magnetic pouch. I then set the phone audio to go through the bikes speakers, and just clip the boom mic to my helmet strap to make a phone call.
You can access the phone and directory through the bikes controls, or just you voice command, but you do not have to use the PTT for a phone call.
The boom mic does very well, even with my relatively loud Pro-pipe.
