Default SOA / Hamlet Characters Explained

I am deployed to a non-combat third world country and only working 8 hours 5 days a week. I am bored and jonesing bad for for motorcycle culture so don't flame me too hard. I googled the cliff notes for Hamlet to see how closely SOA follows the storyline. I found a list of character explanations and tried to analyze which character is which. Here is what I came up with:

Jax (Hamlet): http://www.cliffsnotes.com/WileyCDA/...geNum-350.html

Clay (Claudius): http://www.cliffsnotes.com/WileyCDA/...geNum-355.html

Gemma (Gertrude): http://www.cliffsnotes.com/WileyCDA/...geNum-357.html

Piney (Polonious): http://www.cliffsnotes.com/WileyCDA/...geNum-359.html

Ophilia (Lila): http://www.cliffsnotes.com/WileyCDA/...geNum-360.html

Opie (Laertes): http://www.cliffsnotes.com/WileyCDA/...geNum-361.html

Hale (Horatio): http://www.cliffsnotes.com/WileyCDA/...geNum-362.html

Jax, Clay, Gemma, and Piney were easy. Opie and Hale were a little harder but they do line up. Lila being Ophilia was hard until my wife reminded me Lila was the same **** girl who had the hots for Jax earlier in the season. She was the one who needed a ride home and who Tara made sure she had sex with Jax in front of. If you read Ophilia / Lila's character description, you can see that a big problem between Jax (Hamlet) and Opie (Laertes) is coming. If you only read one of the long descriptions, read hers with the corresponding SOA characters in mind.

I haven't read the cliff notes yet and I don't remember enough about Hamlet from school. I know this is all soap opera BS, but it is all I have from here. I have my fire suit on, flame away.

My English prof would have been proud of you. She would have loved using Shakespeare to explore the depths of SOA. I hadn't looked at it like that until now. Thanks, now I need to go re-read some classics.

Thank you for your service, come home safe.

Thanks. Other threads have stated the creator of SOA modeled the show after Hamlet. I just wanted to see to what depth. I thought it was interesting how most of the characters names have the same first letter as their Hamlet counterpart. Even Ophilia and Lila are close. I know, I don't have a life.

Yep, but right now that's not your fault. Hope you get to come home soon and go for that ride.
