we don't really have the hot dog 'culture' up here that you yanks have , but we have them in the grocery stores and street corner vendors . and i've always liked them , and then one day this little place opened up and they have Nathan's . so i figured i'd try one , been hearing about them for ages . and OMG ! they're so good !!! now when i feel like a dog i go there and have a Nathan's (sorry dickey , they're boiled) they're a bit more expensive , but soooo worth it

Dodger Dogs. Otherwise no point in going to Dodger Stadium.

Local folks here are wild about the White Hots (Porker's) in the Rochester area, doesn't do it for me.

BUT!

In my home area there is a local chain called HOT DOG CHARLIE's, and similar even smaller enterprises, called GUS'S, and at the FAMOUS LUNCH that serves Minature Hot Dogs on a bun, with meat sauce, mustard and onions that I grew up with, and are a must get item when I return to my home area.

This is a write-up on the businesses and the dogs with some photo's.

When I am in the mood for a dog and I do not have the fixin's for Charlie's , I gotta side with Dickey on this, been hooked since a kids after getting a couple of different style dogs in Central park from a cart vendor. Luckily there is a store nearby that carries the dogs, and also packets of Sabrett Sauce.

Recently on poster here listed his technique for fixing dogs that got rave reviews, I haven't been in the mood for a dog since it was listed but will try it when I am. Sounds good.

Famous lunch is the quintessential hot dog place of the world! I eat there at least once a week if not more! Screw hot dog charlies they just ripped off famous lunch , and gus's is so so

AaaaahhhhhH! Another mini-dog connoisseur.

I’ll eat at any of the (3), though there are differences. It’s mostly a matter of where I am when I get hungry.

And “Just for the record” Charlie’s was first with the concept. I double checked, and this article was linked via the FAMOUS LUNCH website.

But you can’t go wrong at any of them. Though, THERE ARE DIFFERENCES.
And I'm jealous that you get there so often, I have to travel across state. Though Lake George to Troy is a trek. Enjoy!

Now we have to check out this interloper from Syracuse (Hofmann's) which apparently has quite a following. Haven't tried one yet though.

I refuse to eat processed meat of any kind. No dogs, no sausage, no funky cold cuts. My humour stops at burger meat. I'll have a burger every so often, but nothing ground smaller then that.
