2000 Sportster 1200 oil oil oil
I have a 2000 Sportster 1200c. After riding I get oil leaking from the rear cylinder. Everyone talks about the blow-by issue on the Sportster so I started doing my research. The bike has only 20,955 miles on it and has been pretty much trouble free.
I had a bit of oil residue in the air cleaner assemble (stock with k&N). People have recommended a lower oil level so I lowered it the low mark on the dipstick. Dripping oil persists.
A friend of mine asked if I had checked the umbrella valves so I researched that topic. Today I went and bought new rocker cover gaskets and umbrella valves totaling $58.00. I came home, modified an allen wrench, took the rocker covers off, replaced the umbrella valves, and pit it all back together with the new gaskets. Went for a ride and I still have oil leaking from the rear cylinder.
What do I do next?
